Sir Elton John World Tour

Tuesday, 23rd January 2007

During 2006 Starflight Aviation was engaged to operate 'The Captain and the Kid' World tour for Sir Elton John. This comprised of 3 sectors

May to July included 22 UK and European dates, which comprised flying on the latest Sikorsky 76C and Eurocopter 155 helicopters direct from Sir Elton's home to sites next to the venue within the UK. For the European Venues we supplied the only commercially available Gulfstream 450. We were also tasked with supplying Citation and Kingair aircraft to fly the Artistes band direct into airfields nearby the venues where no schedule existed for commercial flights or the runway was too short for larger jets.

September to November we covered the North America Fall, 24 date tour of America and Canada on the newest fleet of Gulfstream 4SP's available within the US. On the final flight home to the UK we had 2 additional guests on board, Sir Elton John's Cocker Spaniels. As Starflight is the only DEFRA approved aviation brokerage house in the UK we were able to bring the aircraft into Heathrow under the Pet Passport Scheme.

The tour culminated with 3 week sector tour of Australia and New Zealand for which we supplied a Gulfstream 5 aircraft. The final date involved flying Sydney to Perth for the concert then onto Columbo for a technical stop and crew swap and then finally to Farnborough all under 24 hours
